Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag is an antimicrobial hydrophilic fiber wound dressing containing nano-silver particles, designed to effectively combat biofilm and a wide range of pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. This wound dressing can be cut to fit various shapes and sizes of wounds, including superficial and deep wounds, and is suitable for moderate to high exudate levels.
Indications
- Pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, leg ulcers
- Acute wounds: postoperative wounds, abrasions/lacerations, second-degree burns, skin grafts, donor sites, tumor wounds

Instructions for Use
- Cut Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag to the desired size, leaving about 1 cm margin around the wound edge (only cut when dry).
- Apply the dressing directly to the wound bed (it will form a gel upon contact with wound exudate).
- Use an appropriate secondary dressing (e.g., foam) to secure the product and maintain a moist wound environment.
- Dressing change interval should not exceed 7 days.
Precautions
- Do not use in cases of excessive bleeding.
- Avoid use if there is known sensitivity to any component of Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag.

When should Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag be used?
Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag can be used for wound treatment against biofilm. First, perform wound debridement using monofilament fiber technology (e.g., Debrisoft® pad or Debrisoft® debridement stick) to remove debris from the wound, then use Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag to disrupt biofilm, kill bacteria, and prevent biofilm reformation.
What is the mechanism of action of Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag?
When Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag comes into contact with wound exudate, it forms a gel, which helps maintain a moist wound environment and supports autolytic debridement. Then, nano-silver particles release silver ions into the dressing, activating its antimicrobial effect, including against MRSA. Bacteria, exudate, and cellular debris are then retained in the dressing and removed during dressing changes.
How does the antimicrobial effect of silver ions in Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag differ from other dressings on the market?
Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag contains nano-silver particles, while other dressings on the market contain ionic silver with different particle sizes, but they have similar antimicrobial activity. However, Suprasorb® Liquacel Ag has lower shrinkage and cytotoxicity (1.1%) compared to other dressings.
